As a person who is healthy, active and conscious about my overall wellbeing, an admitted weakness of mine was a sweet tooth alongside occasional junk food cravings.
I used to justify eating unhealthy snacks, treats and even highly processed foods at one point in time since “I was active otherwise” or “I’d burn off the calories regardless”…

An effective way of preventing illness is through nutrition. We should strive to eat a balanced diet consisting of whole foods, while also limiting the amount of highly acidic and/or processed foods that may result in our bloating, inflammation, lack of mental clarity, joint pains and other ill responses. This is your body’s way of indicating that there are undesirable chemical reactions occurring within your system, as a direct response to the food that you ate.

I had completely failed to consider the overall quality of food (aka building blocks) that I was providing my body for its growth, repair and other metabolic functions that are constantly being carried out.
Once I began thinking of every single piece of food that I consumed as being a building block, my relationship with food and ultimately the choices that I made regarding eating completely shifted.
We must think of our body as a chemistry processor, with the quality of the simple chemistry which we feed ourselves (like simple sugars, amino acids etc) directly impacting all the chemical reactions consequently occurring within us.

Once I understood this concept, eating junk food lost its appeal. Often reminding myself that whatever I eat will inevitably undergo a reaction within me (good or bad depending on the food) was instrumental in changing my eating habits.
At the end of the day, you’re in charge of providing your body with the nutrients, vitamins and minerals needed for its optimal functioning, growth and repair.
You have the ability to intuitively understand the needs of your body in a healthy state, and must therefore listen to your needs in terms of protein, fat and carbohydrate intake and take control of what goes into your mouth.
I know how difficult maintaining a clean diet can be at times, however I also know how amazing life feels when you’re providing your body with proper building blocks AKA nutrients.
After all, you ARE what you eat.. so why would you ever want yourself to be processed, greasy or junk?! I rather be clean, natural and whole myself personally ☺️🤍🥑🍇🍋🥦🥝🍏
